Olivia is an agricultural community surrounded by some of the area's richest farm lands. Known as the "Corn Capital of Minnesota," its the home to seed production companies and seed brokers. You can miss the 35 foot high ear of corn at Memorial Park. Olivia is the county seat of Renville County and boasts seven parks, a 9 hole golf course, and indoor swimming pool, several softball fields and tennis courts. Nearby state parks offer hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing.
See some addtional Attractions Corn Capital Days - Features a Grand Parade, corn feed, arts and crafts, street dance, softball and volleyball tournaments. Takes place the last weekend in July. Renville County Courthouse - Tours available of this historic building. Enjoy the beautifull architecture. Beaver Falls Village - Features a 100 year old school house and a display of antique farm equipment. Renville County Genealogical Society - Located at the Reville Libary. Open Monday - Friday 1:00pm- 5:30pm Birch Coulee Battlefield Park - Site of the 36 hour final battle of the U.S. Dakota Conflict of 1862 between the Dakota Sioux and the white settlers of the area. Birch Coulee Monuments were erected in 1894 and 1899 as a lasting memory of the people who fought and died in the battle. Renville County Museum - Features 19th Century buildings, glass collections and artifacts. North Redwood - Birthplace of Richard W. Sears, founder of Sears, Roebuck and Company. Sears Day is celebrated in September. Alexander Ramsey Park - Largest municipal park in Minnesota and home of Ramsey Falls, with playground, picnic shelters, and natural paths. Also features Ramsey Park Zoo. Olivia Golf Club - Established in 1928, the Olivia Golf Club is one of the oldest courses and "best kept secrets" in the state of Minnesota. |
